Aquamarine is the birthstone for March. Also, as the gem of the 19th wedding anniversary, it was thought to enhance the happiness of marriages. The name “aquamarine” is derived from the Latin words: aqua, meaning “water,” and marina, meaning “of the sea.” In ancient lore, Aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of mermaids. It was also said to calm waves and be the lucky stone of sailors keeping them safe at sea.
